Hailing from the picturesque big land in Goose Bay, Labrador, Emma now resides in St. John’s, NL. Serving on the Elders Advisory Committee of the Empowering Indigenous Women for Stronger Communities Project, Emma is a kind, gentle spirit with a lot of heart. Emma’s sincerity and welcoming presence makes you feel comforted and secure. She is not afraid of showing her own vulnerability and keeps her heart and mind strong by sharing her struggles, which in turn helps others feel understood and not alone. She is a survivor and a fighter. She believes that healing comes from being open and honest. She does not run from her fears, but faces them head on and she encourages others to do the same. Emma is a strong force who has served on the board of directors for First Light St. Johns Friendship Centre as well as taking on various other leadership roles in community. A traditional person, Emma sees much value in culture and tradition. She is often called on as an Elder to lead an opening prayer and her heart felt words resonate with all those in her circle. She is strong in her relationship with the Creator and kindly shares her knowledge and honor of the traditional Kullik whenever she is called upon. Her love for her family and her commitment to community is inspirational as she has so much to give. We are honored to have her a part of our journey as we move forward with many goals to accomplish.
